The Cloud Software Group has announced changes to the licensing policy for Citrix Service Providers.

What does this mean?

 

In March 2024, the time had come: Cloud Software Group CSG introduced three new subscription types.

Some of the new Citrix license models include additional functions. For example, Citrix Universal Hybrid Multi-Cloud, or HMC for short, also includes Citrix Netscaler, the software solution for the efficient management of networks by intelligently distributing requests to different servers.

The Citrix Platform License offers access to all functions with just a single license - however, this license is reserved for selected Citrix customers.

Finally, Citrix Private Cloud is intended for those customers who wish to remain on-prem, i.e. host on their own servers.

Another new feature at Citrix is that the focus is now on long-term licenses: Annual intervals are more likely to pay off in future than the previously calculated monthly pay-as-you-go subscriptions.

In concrete terms, the changes to the Citrix Service Provider for existing customers look like this:
  • 12 months Commit to Consume (CtC) with 15% increase in turnover
  • Advance payment of the commitment instead of monthly billing after use
  • Pricing based on the “Last Paid Price”
  • For partners who do not want to or cannot commit, the price will increase by 100% from September

These changes have serious consequences for the costs of the product: the new upfront payment instead of monthly billing has an impact on cash flow. Significant price increases for the service may also result from the price calculation with regard to the “Last Paid Price”. The use of Citrix as a service provider will become drastically more expensive from September 2024.
